--Deaf with MA in industrial/organizational psychology
--Can be able to communicate with others but not efficently...
Please be honest, can deaf person succeed in being a market research manager or director?
I'm guessing you would want to work in "HR" at a large corporation,(or have your own "office").
In any regard, honestly , I think it would be tough because you would have to council people ALL day. Your "career" is a very "vocal" career. How you interact with your fellow associates is a vital part of any Psych. job. You would be at a dis-advantage for sure. Marketing is a "dog eat dog" atmosphere, you would have to rise to the challenge.
However, that does not mean you could not excel either. You could very easily "play the deaf card" and use your disability to your advantage. It is just a matter of "How much you want it" %26amp; " How much you are willing to give up".
And when you put it that way, it doesn't matter if you are deaf or have a disability, it just matters how "hungry" you are! Good Luck!
Reply:I would think that they could, but they would need to work on becoming more proficient at communication.
Reply:Being deaf and not efficient in talking has nothing to do with being a good manager. It's the knowledge and skills that get you there.
If anyone thinks that you are not a good manager just because you might talk slower or less clear, they need to listen better to you when you do talk.
Don't take any conditions against you. You've gotten this far with a condition, why stop now?
