How to get your potential clients to answer your market research questions?

Well, give them a coupon for their time. I give 10% coupons and 5% coupons. Trust me, they will never answer anything if they get nothing in return. Its all about them. Some even get soo angry as to return the post card without anything written on it to waste my postage. Customers that havent signed anything with anybody will get a coupon. Especially the poorer clients. This does limit itself because some of the richer clients dont care as much as the poorer ones. Sometimes I give free gift certificates to somewhere more exciting then my services like a $10 dollar gift certificate to Chili's restaraunt or the like. It might be cheaper. But, dont give it to them yet. Have them send the survey to you first.

start a focus group.

set time aside for deep diving into your issues. offer incentives for participation. You get the info that you want and they are compensated for their time.
Reply:If your mailing out, put a dollar in the envelope, or something small gift wise, tell them it is a thank you for answering the survey/questions. Seriously I could never take the dollar and not answer the questions.
Reply:You must definitely answer the question "what's in it for me" from the customer's perspective. We are all ready bombarded by surveys and feedback requests; however you don't always have to pay the customer for participation. Sometimes it's fun to give feedback - sometimes it appears that feedback helps improve products and services and therefore offers an incentive to the customer to provide relevant feedback for free. Sometimes, it's a privelage to be asked to give feedback - but there is always something in it for the customer.
