Is Yahoo Question/Answer and other discussion boards really all about MARKET RESEARCH?

Is all this about "ask a question" and providing message boards really just being done by Yahoo so as to gauge the public's interests?

Is Yahoo Question/Answer and other discussion boards really all about MARKET RESEARCH?
It is market research for Yahoo and its partners. For people who participate is entertaining, a way to communicate with others.
Reply:I'm going with a no. I don't think Yahoo cares about some dumb girl who wants to know if shes pregnant.
Reply:that's part of the conspiracy!!!
Reply:I doubt it. Yahoo run an absolutely massive search engine. Analysing the search engine would provide infinitely more accurate information than looking at random questions on here. :)

I think Yahoo! set this up because they knew it was a good idea, which would catch on. Well done to them for that! =D
Reply:idk
Reply:stale poot.
Reply:I really hope not otherwise Yahoo is just about to get more assinine than it already is... lmao
Reply:Why does everyone always think everything has an alterior motive? Where is the trust nowadays??
Reply:Duh!
Reply:probably
Reply:NO AND YOU ARE GAY!!!
Reply:If that's the case, then Yahoo should be putting out a piece of software, called "Poop and Boobs" soon.
Reply:i'd agree to disagree..
Reply:That would not surprise me one bit, because the answers I get on "Yahoo Answers" are usually crap.

I need a little help with market research tonight.?

I am alergic to anything that smells, but I need some new scents for my online store.

Do you think my prices are reasonable? barefootmarket.com

Does anyone like any of these?

Design Perfume

Jessica Mc Clintock

Juicy Couture Perfume

Light Blue

Pink Sugar

Alfred Sung

Angel

Burberry London (new)

Cool Water

White Diamonds

I need a little help with market research tonight.?
Burberry London is chic and has a great fragrance... Jessica Mc Clintock is very cheep smelling and kinda blah ...flowery but not in a good way... Cool water is very chemical and very alcohol based type of scent a tad better than Polo Sport but almost as awful and totally passe'... Angel is awful! I mean think headache for a week... but was really big like 5 years ago I am sure some people who are just coming of age might still want to buy it. Alfred Sung is classy .. and harmless. Juicy Couture is funky and it is still kinda hip. If you are in the business you should probably carry all of them especially for selling on-line... Good luck!
Reply:very reasonable...i love burberry london!

It is under the topic: market research.

What are the disadvantages of market resarch?
It's a costly, time-consuming process, builds in biases that distort

information, ignores answers or lets arrogance or hostility cut

off communications at some point in the marketing process

Product testing for Market Research/Consumer Research?

How do I join a research panel where a company sends me different kinds of products to test and report back on. The kind where you keep the products sent to you. The could send you anything from grocery items to a major appliance.

Product testing for Market Research/Consumer Research?
I have been subscribed as a panelist to some research companies, but none has send me any product so far - just on line questionnaires and panel discussions. I suppose if you are persistent enough to do this for a while they will 'promote' you to a product tester....or you can look for marketing research companies that specifically want 'product testers'.

Some beauty magazines use their subscribers as testers, but even if you are subscriber the chances to be chosen are not very high. Even if you are chosen to be tester for one product it is unlikely to be tester forever as they try to make happy as much as possible of all their subscribers.

Anyone knows the salary in P&G for Brand Manager, or Market research?

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. What implications can happen if a company's research is incorrect - market research:?? thankz?
One component of market research is forecasting the demand for your product or service. George Murphy, Chrysler's senior vice president of marketing, was interviewed about a new product "swivel 'n go" in the company's upcoming redesigned minivan. He expressed concern about the company's forecast for demand of the feature since the company underestimated demand for "stow 'n go" seating, among others.

The implications are numerous: Obviously sales of more-highly featured vehicles are lost or delayed. More significantly, the supply chain plans it's production based on Chrysler's forecast, and it adding additional capacity may be difficult in this captial-intensive industry.

What is the difference between Marketing strategy and marketing research?

I've always wanted to know how both are related or different - or is it just a matter of semantics?

What is the difference between Marketing strategy and marketing research?
For example you want to sell a lemonade. So you want to do a market research to understand who will buy your lemonade. You prepare a questionnaire, and have you friends, colleagues, neighbors to fill in the form - this is a marketing research. Then you have an understanding of who your customers want you need to develop a strategy on how to sell your lemonade to them. Where your lemonade stand will be,how you will advertise, what size of cups you will have, how many hours will you work. This is a marketing strategy.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
Reply:Marketing research comes first. You research the market, you make an analysis of the current situation on market.

Marketing strategy is based on the research, when you try to work out a strategy to better sell your product/sevice in the given market situation.

No good marketing strategy can be written without a good marketing research.
Reply:Market research can be even before you can start a venture. Usually it is cunducted to know the potential / prospects of the products or services.

Marketing strategy is usually about product promotion or in simple words how you will go about marketing your products.

I want to be a Marketing Research Analyst, how do I get started?
You could probably land an entry-level job just with your business degree. If you had at least one college-level class in statistics and a social science research methods course, it would help differentiate you from other candidates.

Here's a sample of requirements for an entry level position at my company:

* Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university

* One year of relevant work experience/training (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task

* Team orientation

* Strong customer focus

* Experience using Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Outlook)

What would be a research problem for an organic restaurant?

I have to write my final essay over marketing research. I have to write like I'm writing to a loan officer. I am writting about a fictional organic restaurant in my online marketing class.

What would be a research problem for an organic restaurant?
How about: a party of customers has filed a lawsuit, claiming that the land from which the organic food is brought is polluted with high levels of phosphorus.

The phosphorus has entered the soil via river, as, upstream, numerous farms use fertilizers, which are high in phosphorus. Naturally, rain sweeps fertilizer into the river, where it is deposited near the farm.

Basically, it has been proved that phosphorus has entered this soil and is polluting the crops: they are no longer truly organic.

The owner of the restaurant is willing to settle, with $300,000 for the party of customers total. However, he is strapped for cash, and would like to take a loan.

I hope this helps; I wish you the best of luck!
Reply:How would you discover how many organic produce buyers in your restaurant's target market?

What about beef/pork/poultry producers? How do you determine which organic label is accurate? Some localities differ from the Federal government on quality control and providing proof of such controls.

Looking for contemporary international market research in real estate?
Sadly my friend it doesn't exist in the format you seek. Better to start by narrowing your question to a continent or region. Why? Because even if it were available, it could only rerpresent a broad veiw and not something specific to local area. And by local I mean local - city / town.

Example; what's the state of prices in Miami, FL versus LA, CA? Both areas have good %26amp; bad locations and comparitively cheap %26amp; highjly priced property but, how will you know unless you find someone who specialises in international property who, in turn, knows how to discover this information and draw outline conclusions prior to deeper research.

What you want does exist of course but, first, you must have a sane starting point. So, back to you to work out what you're really trying to achieve.

Once you've done this, tell me where you want to start and I'll tell you how to find trained and qualified people to assist and, not just because they hold the qualifications. These guys know there regions but won't give the time of day unless you organised yourself a little first.

How much does a market research project cost including online survey development & statistical analysis?

Prices can depend on the company, but for the most part there are two levels of market research services. The first level contains all the websites on the web that offer cheap do-it-yourself survey packages. These sites are not good unless you are trying to do a simple small survey. The second level are full service market research companies that will design, administer, and analyze the survey for you. Though this is more expensive, it's the way to go if you don't know a lot about market research. One good one is Infosurv (listed below) with prices around $3500-$6500 for a full-service package. It's well worth the price for the service you receive. Another is called AC Nielson (also listed below) but they are a bit bigger and usually charge 2-3x as much for the same work. They are both well known and respected companies in the field.

What is the definition of market research?

Market Research is a systematic, objective collection and analysis of data about a particular target market, competition, and/or environment. It always incorporates some form of data collection whether it be secondary research (often referred to as desk research) or primary research which is collected direct from a respondent.

The purpose of any market research project is to achieve an increased understanding of the subject matter. With markets throughout the world becoming increasingly more competitive, market research is now on the agenda of many organisations, whether they be large or small.

The Market Research Process

To conduct market research, organisations may decide to undertake the project themselves (some through a marketing research department) or they might choose to commission it via a market research agency or consultancy. Whichever, before undertaking any research project, it is crucial to define the research objectives i.e. what are you trying to achieve from the research? and what do you need to know?

After considering the objectives, Market Researchers can utilise many types of research techniques and methodologies to capture the data that they require. All of the available methodologies either collect quantitative or qualitative information. The use of each very much depends on the research objectives but many believe that results are most useful when the two methods are combined.

How does marketing research differ from market research?

marketing research

How does marketing research differ from market research?
By definition they are different. 'Marketing Research' is research in marketing. That could be marketing (creating a desire to purchase or own) a new product, any product from food to movies to cars to TV shows. Anything that is produced, is produced to meet and attract a specific 'Market' or segment of the buying population. 'Market Research' deals with one of two things. Either a slang term for the Stock market, and doing research on a specific stock, or commodity. Or it is researching a pin point Market so that a company can meet a need or desire, with in a group or population segment.
Reply:Marketing research is determining the best way to sell a particular product or service. Market research is used to determine the demand for a particular product in a given population.
Reply:to simply put it.... market research is to know what your customers want to buy

and marketing research is to know how to make your customer buy from you

What do you do when a market reseacher calls you?

NOT TELEMARKETERS. But those people who are just conducting surveys, just get your opinion. I work for a market research company and am wondering why people have such a grudge against us. They are just doing their job. They don't know that they are calling at a bad time. They don't have much control over what time they call or how many times they call. They're not selling anything. And is it really nessasiary to tell them they should die?

What do you do when a market reseacher calls you?
I think in these times of identity theft, people are really scared of giving out personal information.
Reply:because my number is privait i do not appear in the fone book no will the operater give you my number.

so it angers me when they ring.

it is quite clear if i am not listed in the fone book i do not want these type of calls.

they never tell me where they get my number from which is out of order if you ask me, that is my privait number i have a right to know where they got it from.

i now a days do not talk to them but hang up... if they ring back i just rest the fone hand set down and let them talk to themselfs then check they have gone after ten minutes then hang my fone up.

Reply:Marketing people take their profession WAY too seriously. I have not known ANY marketing person....ever...in my life since I've been in the workforce that had any grip on reality or people.

They place value in the wrong places, they utilize poor, ill-conceived information, or the convolute good information themselves, and their surveys are inane and half-baked.

Personally I think those people have been given far, FAR more credit than they ever deserved. I worked closely with a couple sales and marketing folks for several years at my previous place of employment, and both of them were idiots.....they falsified information to customers and essentially lied just to get sales and the marketing guy was at least as bad. Not only did they rape and pillage any information and data they were given, they were too stupid to understand it.

So, at least for me, when sales and marketing dipsh!ts call me at home, on my time after I've put my tour of duty in to those toads I try and actually be polite.....but yanno what.....

....being polite isn't good enough. Being nice and telling them I'm busy or in the middle of something doesn't fly. No....they need to push and push and push. See, they're too stupid to take a polite "no thanks" and move on. Even they should be smart enough to understand it's a numbers game, but no....they and their massive egos want to SELL......they NEED to get that survey in your face.

So, I either set the phone down and let these geniuses prattle on and on while I go cut the grass or fly a kite until it finally dawn on them that no one's there, or I just tell them to fvck off.

Who needs it? How many people are actually truthful with a PHONE survey anyway? C'mon. The questions are often not applicable. The real answer is usually not among the choices anyway.

You have some guy selling water in paper cups in the desert. A marketing person will go back to the boss and say...."yeah they LOVE those little paper cups". Sales is looking for a way to recycle dogsh!t into paper cups.

That's why we can't stand your freaking surveys. It's not YOU...it's the sales/marketing concept that is inane...and the companies and the morons running them....and the fact they annoy the crap out of everyone.

Go work for a decent company.
Reply:I have answered lots of surveys on the phone. That last one I did is sending me a check for $100 - no lie. What/where are the best ways to find data about targeting a market for upscale children's clothing buyers?

I'm starting an e-commerce boutique for girl's clothing, ages 0-5. All market research I'm finding is on larger retailers. I'm also trying to deduce what areas of the country have the most disposable income with children and may be additionally internet savvy. Finally, I know of a couple of blogs and virtual publications appropriate to this subject such as, TotTrendsWeekly, Daddy Drama, etc. Are there other blogs and publications that anyone can recommend for upscale boutique children's clothing?

Thanks in advance!

What/where are the best ways to find data about targeting a market for upscale children's clothing buyers?
Check magazines and, as you mentioned, blogs and virtual publications that cater to this market. Then find forums related to the market and start participating. This will allow you to get to know members of your market, and learn about them. This is the inexpensive, but time-consuming method.

(If you click the Resources link at the TotTrendsWeekly site, you'll see a list of sites, some of which include forums.)

Alternately, you can hire market researchers to find out what you need to know. Of course, that costs money.

Most of the multi national companies do carry out market research but since lack of competition,it is not extensive.Uniliver introduced sache shampoo costing 5 RS.it was based on the fact that there are alot people with very low incom.

the other was introduction of free sim cards from telenor which was as at that time quite a successful introduction since it launched telenor into communication industry as giant.

How do I find out the size of a market?

Hi all

I am trying to do some market research, and have hit a problem when I try to find the actual size of the market.

I want to be able to say "In the UK, x number of y products are sold every year, to the demographic w at an average cost of v"

Or as much of that as possible! I am having trouble finding anything other than random figures if I search on google.

Any genuine help will be much appreciated!

Many thanks

How do I find out the size of a market?
First off, i would look for trade associations for the particular product, demographic, etc. For example, there is a bottled water trade association "bottledwater.org". Their website or magazine usually already has the information of interest.

Next, i would try a keyword search on Google/Yahoo (the more specific the better w/ "advanced search/preferences"). By looking at the # of results you can give an indirect statistic.

I hope that helped. Feel free to add me as a contact.

Good luck,

Bernard

How can I participate in market research focus groups?

a few options really...

1. those people hanging round on the street are usually market researchers (not always charity peeps asking for money!). I stop quite a bit for these guys and only last week got taken off to some hired room to watch some adverts and give my opinion - only got a free cup of tea for that though

2. I registered with www.sarosresearch.com and every now and then I get sent research questionnaires to answer. there are loads more companies out there, but do you homework as some of them ask for cash up front on the premise that you'll get paid for doing the research - probably a scam if that's the case

hope that helps

My suggestion would be Craigslist

Do you think markerts should be allowed to conduct market research with young children? Why or why not?

No. It is dangerous to allow that because children are innocent %26amp; may give away information that someone can use to harm them.

Do you think markerts should be allowed to conduct market research with young children? Why or why not?
No one should ever be allowed to do anything that could

lead to the exploitation of children. However, marketeers

need to know what to put on the market for the good of

young children as well as for everyone else.....the important

part of this is that children of any age are cared for by

reponsible adults. Our children...our most precious

resource.
Reply:NO.

I understand these things have to be tested, but would you want the outcome to be life long damage to your child?

I wouldnt.
Reply:i think it all depends on the product. toys certainly should have research done on them. companies need to know if their toys are cool enough for children to play with. asking kids questions regarding a certain tioy would be very beneficial. however if the product was geared for adults, such as cars, children do not need to be tested.

How can I utilize Research %26amp; Marketing write off?
Any reasonable and necessary expense incurred in the generation of taxable income is a legitimate business expense. If you can tie those expenses to the generation of profit then they are fully deductible as legitimate business expenses.

Just be SURE that you have full documentation and can show the link to the generation of income. If it looks like a boondoggle, the IRS will disallow it in a heartbeat.
Reply:TFTP Report Abuse

Reply:This is a very questionable item. If you have a sizable income and expense this but still have a gain you may not have a problem. If you do this with a small income and produce a sizable loss I would suggest that you go down to the IRS office every day and wait for them to call you name for the audit.

Would you stop and talk to a Market Research Person at the Shopping Mall?

I was sitting at a bench at a local Indoor Regional Shopping Center watching a young man trying to get people to stop and answer a few questions about a market research study he was working on. I could not believe how rude the average person was to this poor man.

Eventually he came over to me and we struck up a conversation. He was just trying to make a few extra dollars to pay for college but he was also shocked how rude people were to him. Most would not even reply if he stopped and asked them if they had a few minutes. Many would swear at him and many would call him names.

Is this necessary? If they are not interested couldn't they just say I am sorry but I do not have the time or interest. Their argument would be that they did not ask to be bothered.

What would you do?

Would you stop and talk to a Market Research Person at the Shopping Mall?
When I walk by people like that, I glance to see if they are talking directly to me. Then I quickly say, "No thank you." I can understand why people would ignore for fear of being caught up in someone trying to convince them to stay for a survey or sales pitch. Swearing at someone is completely uncalled for.

Perhaps if he had offered something like free candy bars (courtesy of his company, not him), more people would take the survey.
Reply:Well, I was actually paid for my time once. Easiest five bucks I ever made, so no, I don't mind talking to these people.

What I DONT like is those people who run the carts in the mall - one lady was so insistent that I try out her swedish hand lotion after I politely said no that she actually grabbed my hand and started applying it. Now THAT was rude.
Reply:Oh I agree with you. People do not have to be rude in these situations. A simple "no thank you" is all that is needed. This person is just trying to get by.

It reflects on how horrible people are these days. No morals, no civility and no manners.
Reply:I personally will say "no thanks". The translation in my mind is, "don't bother me unless you intend to pay me for my precious time, after all you will be making money from my input". But I agree with you. No need to be rude.
Reply:i would stop and answer them but not always. i think i was just help with their job and living. because i will feel bad if i got turn down by everyone when i just doing my job. please dont be personal, they just doing their job.
Reply:wow
Reply:Depends on my day/what I'm doing. I have done the surveys before, but I have also had days where I'm quickly stopping by to pick something up, and have to get going. Those days, I just say "I'm so sorry, I can't help today, I'm in a rush, but I'll be sure to do one the next time I see the group here." No need to be rude. I think most people are too rude these days.

*Edit* As another poster has, I've actually gotten paid the few times I've done the surveys. Normally $2-4 per time, but still a few bucks for just a few minutes of my time.

What primary and secondary data souces used in housing market research?

Primary data sources are market actors. These include buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants.

Secondary data sources are those familiar with a transaction. These would include brokers, property managers, appraisers, and mortgage lenders.

Tertiary data sources are unconfirmed data sources. These include internet data sources like LoopNet or CoStar, assessor's offices, and real estate reports like the Korpacz Reports, Marshall Valuation Service, or Handy Whitman.

Creating innovative Beauty salon, doing market research-What services are you looking for?

A couple additional questions-

When is the last time you've been to a beauty salon?

What was it for? (style change, touch up, special event--wedding..etc)

What services did you get done?

Did you have to go to multiple places to get what you were looking for (example- going to tanning salon, to gym, to hair salon..etc)

What you be interested in a one stop shop salon? A place that offered traditional beauty services as well holistic healing services, accupuncture, tattoo, gym..etc

Creating innovative Beauty salon, doing market research-What services are you looking for?
I would like a salon that provided stylists who were able to give a simple haircut and not leave the person with hair that needs to be recut. The last time I went to a salon, the "stylist" did a very poor job cutting my hair and I had to go to another place to get my hair recut to even it out. It seems that the stylist was trying to give me a new style with long hairs throughout the cut (it was a very long time ago) and as a result I am very suspicious of getting a cut done at a salon. I know that one friend likes to get her nails made up while she is getting her hair styled and colored. Another friend likes to get a massage from a salon. I personally am a very simple person, who because of cancer is not allowed to get a massage, my nails are very short - I have very young children and long nails just don't last and I don't color my hair. Good luck with your place. If you are wanting to get children in - one lady who cuts my hair now has a very good business idea - she charges $5 for a young child's hair cut (6 and under) and then when the children grow up she knows that the children will still come to her for everything because she worked on their hair when they were young. Also by making it affordable for children - moms come back too. It is working she has a lot of business coming through. If you decide to work on little children you only need 1 "fun" chair and lollipops to keep the children happy while you cut. Remember little children are also in weddings (flower girls) and they often need their hair fixed for the wedding! So you only need to have a small area set up for little children not a large one and the children will be yours too.

Is this place legit? "associate market research plc"?
This is a scam. I investigate fraud for a living and have investigated several of these. The letter was most likely mailed out of Canada. The check is counterfeit and they use several different bank names although if you contact the issuing bank they will tell you this is a fraud. If you cash the check be prepared to pay the fees for the check being returned. The scam is to get you to cash the check which will take 7 to 10 days to process. It will go through initially and then be returned. By that time you have already wired the funds via money gram or western union and the funds then have been sent out of the country. You are then stuck with the debt. Run away from this scam ASAP!!!!! If you are ever in doubt about these things call the BBB. also check out this website it is related. http://www.occ.treas.gov/ftp/alert/2008-...
Reply:I am glad this post is here. I just received one of these checks in the mail. I did notice the stamp was from Canada before I came online. I wondered why the check was from a bank in PA, yet the money gram was to be wired to New York.

Thanks Folks! Report Abuse

Reply:Go for it up to the point they ask you for bank info, credit card info or money. Then tell them you don't have any.

If you really are able to cash it at a bank use it to open an account just for that purpose, but leave it with minimum amount of money to keep it open so that if they say the only way you can continue is by giving them a bank account number. And then use the account only for that if you go through with it. If you don't you can still use it for on-line shopping and any time you don't want to give out your regular bank acct. #

I am surprised if the check doesn't say non negotiable and only to be used through their company toward their program.

What does a market research analyst do?

:D

What does a market research analyst do?
Market research analysts are concerned with a product or service's potential sales. They study past statistics to predict future sales, gather data on competitors, and provide the necessary information for deciding how to promote, distribute, design and price products or services.

They devise methods and procedures, including telephone, personal or mail surveys, to assess consumer preferences.

Analysts may conduct opinion research to determine public attitudes on various issues.

Those considering careers as marketing research analysts must have strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Patience and persistence are necessary, because marketing research analysts must spend long hours studying independently and problem-solving.

At the same time, market research analysts must work well with others, because they often oversee interviews for a wide variety of individuals. And they need to be able to present their findings in a clear, meaningful way

In addition to reading what others think of a company's performance, you can, and you should, either request the Annual Report (or view online, if available) for any company in which you are interested in investing. Don't just look at one, see if you can review several years back from the latest.

What do recruiters look for in entry-level market research positions?

I am a senior psychology major at a liberal arts college, interested in pursuing a career in market research. I have experience with SPSS and have held several research positions while in school (psych, not business related). I am by no means a pro at statistics, and besides an intro course I haven't taken much economics.

Is there anything else I should do over the next year to boost my resume? To clarify, I am looking for an actual analyst (or assistant analyst) position- NOT a job where I just call people for focus groups.

What do recruiters look for in entry-level market research positions?
They hold a mirror under your nose. If it fogs up, you're hired.
Reply:You already have the qualifications for a marketing researcher, or a "data gatherer".

This support position compiles significant consumer information, demographic preferences, etc. It requires basic, working knowledge of statistics and economics.

A marketing analyst, or "data miner" usually requires a degree in Economics, or more analytical experiance.

If you really LOVE crunching numbers and have a knack for analyzing data, you could find a job in either field.
Reply:Take a basic marketing class and another stats course. Recruiters often look for diversity rather than all folk with the same education set. You will never compete with some people in the areas of stats or econometrics -- but companies may want you as part of a team that includes the stat-heads. You may end-up designing studies or perhaps moderating focus groups, or managing the questions that you wish the moderator to probe. Market research is getting more difficult because brand and media choices are becoming more segmented by personality profiles rather than age-sex-race. Stat guys can calculate whether a finding is statistically significant, but someone has to creatively determine what findings they are looking for. My suggestion to add marking and more stats is not to make you a professional in those areas, but to prepare you to speak intelligently with other people you will work with. In an interview you can tell recruiters how you built your education profile around what you love and what you are good at, then augmented it with a basic understanding of what you believe will be tangential functions.

It might be hard to find the right company and get the right interview, plan to do a good search and lots of interviews. I think you'll be very intriguing to some marketing companies.

Look at package goods marketers, research companies, research departments at ad agencies, maybe even magazines and other media.

Hi Susan.

Where did you send the questionnaires?

It sounds as if you were focusing on the wrong market.

Maybe a flyer may have been more useful and far cheaper.

Flyers can be printed quite cheaply and for a small fee will be delivered with the free papers we all seem to get.

Or maybe an advert in one of these free papers to start with.

Hope this helps.

Market research companies tend to hire for the entry-level position of a 'focus group recruiter' who basically calls respondents with a short script and list of questions to see if they 'qualify' to participate in a round table discussion about a certain product that they may or may not use.

Perhaps you can look in your county phonebook under 'market research' or in the sunday classified section under 'marketing' or 'market research'. It can be a way to get your foot in the door and see a bit more about the process of outside clients (with the product company) and how important market research really is when improving or changing products.

Apply at the more reputable employment agencies in the larger cities. They can secure better assignments for you.
Reply:Consider advertising agencies! I work in one and I am developing the market research department. All agencies rely heavily on market resaerch and will consider assistants, etc. for entry level positions. Good luck!
Reply:There are several things you can do. Start by looking in the classifieds of your local papers for an entry level market research job.

The next thing, and I think best thing, is to go to www.craigslist.org and look for jobs in that area. I see hundreds on there daily.
Reply:Here's a site that will give you wide net to cast on finding a job in market research....

indeed.com - just type in Market Research and then the location..it will pop up several options for you, depending on the demand of market research in the region you're looking for

Below are several companies that tend to hire entry-level in market research:

Ipsos, Johson %26amp; Johnson, Kao Brands, Global Insight

Good luck %26amp; cheers!
Reply:Any mall usually has a marketing research office; if you have the knack for approaching shoppers to ask quick marketing questions, then this is the entry-level job for you.
Reply:Start in sales, get experience in sales marketing, grow into the position from a sales side and on the inside, I did, 12 years later was VP of Sales marketing for F200 co.

Market Research For A Food Delivery Business?

Im looking to start a catering company but i would also want people to be able to order food from me via a website and then it will be delivered to them.

However, before i do this i need to do some simple market research, will people like the food i will be specialising in? How much will they be willing to pay? Would they even want to order food online? Im not sure how i can go about collecting this info, ideally i want people to be able to taste the food i will be providing and then answer a short questionnaire, but how do i go about doing this? How can i make people taste the food? Maybe I need to put up a stall somewhere but i dont know where and how.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Market Research For A Food Delivery Business?
You could spend a lot of money hiring a market research firm to find the answers, but I'm guessing a startup catering business doesn't have a big budget for such things. But I think you can do a pretty good job on your own cheaply.

To answer the question of whether people will like the food, you could throw a tasting party. People rarely will turn down free food. Invite some people you know and have them bring some friends also. 15 to 20 should be enough. Have them taste the food and fill out a questionnaire about it - rate on taste, appearance, etc. Would they buy it? You need to be sure they are honest and not saying they like it just to make you feel good. The questionnaire helps this by making it anonymous.

One important point is to choose the right target for the research. You should have a good idea of who you want to be your customers, and your test group should resemble this audience. For example, if you plan to sell to moms who are too busy to cook, but your taste test group is all male college students, your results will not be relevant.

Pricing is a tricky area and difficult to ask in a meaningful way. I recommend checking out potential competitors who are serving the same target market. That should give you a reasonable price range. Then figure out your costs and see if you can be competitive in price.

Online ordering will also be tough to measure. Creating an online ordering site can be very expensive. I suggest you start without this function and once the business is running smoothly ask your customers about online ordering.

Good luck!

Give something else other than food as a giveaway. Say for example, if your trying to market hamburgers, give something like personalized caps or mugs for the first 100 customers.

Reminds me of spongebob movie. :D

Where do I find info good quality market research on the Global and UK Multicultural PR industry?

I am trying to write up a business plan. The market I need to research is the UK (and to a lesser degree Global) Multi Cultural PR industry (or Ethnic PR as it sometimes called).

I can't find anything other then online articles. I have tried at the British Library where I have found only reports on the general PR industry as a whole.

I can find out limited information about specific Co.s -

but how do I determine the size of the Global/UK market? And what share of the market these Co.s have?

Or more personal information like their operational structure, pricing strategy etc?

Where do I find info good quality market research on the Global and UK Multicultural PR industry?
Market Research Companies are big business .. they CHARGE for their reports :-)

You want a specific Report ? you can either pay for a copy of an existing Report or pay to have them do the specific research just for you.

General Market Research is available from Government statistics office .. this may be good enough ..

A man doing market research knocked on a door and was greeted by a young woman with three small children running round her feet.

He says, "I'm doing research for Vaseline. Have you ever used the product? And if you don't mind me asking, what do you use it for?"

"We use it for sex."

The researcher was a little taken back. "Usually people lie to me and say that they use it on a child's bicycle chain or to help with a gate hinge but, in fact, I know that most people do use it for sex. I admire you for your honesty. Since you've been frank so far, can you tell me exactly how you use it for sex?"

The woman says, "I don't mind telling you at all. My husband and I put it on the door knob and it keeps the kids out."

What is the job outlook for Market Research Analysts?

My cousin recently got a bachelor's degree in statistics, with a minor in marketing. She wants to be a market research analyst.

We learned that a master's degree is important for a technical position. So, question: Should she pursue a master's degree now, or apply for an entry-level job and get her master's degree later? What's the best course of action?

Also, what field/subject should she get her master's degree in? Marketing? Economics? Statistics?

Info: She got her degree in the States (MA)and now she's living in Melbourne, Australia.

What is the job outlook for Market Research Analysts?
She will find ALL the market research jobs at this link, GOOD LUCK! Market Research is looking for statistic people.
