Should I get an MBA with an emphasis in marketing, or a Master of Science degree in Stats, or something else completely?
Why type of graduate degree is the best fit for marketing research?

Reply:i think that the stats route would be good--make sure you take some marketing classes. the reason is that marketing research companies have plenty of MBAs but not enough people who are really good at stats. plus, if you end up not liking market research (or for that matter, any kind of business job), the stats option leaves other possibilities--plenty of them
Reply:You can enter that field through numerous paths. The most well-known option is the MBA.
Top MBA programs are ratings driven. Placement is a huge component of the ratings. As a result many MBA placement offices house comprehensive statistics on the placement of their graduates. My suggestion is to contact placement offices of schools you will consider and ask for data on their graduates in your field of choice. Some schools will have more than others.
Your other option of Stats is good as well. In an ironic twist there is not likely to be as much data on the placement of these graduates from the university career center. Your best bet is to contact department directly and determine who is most involved with placement. Remember, Stats Departments may not want to view themselves as "vocational" programs as they see their training for a higher purpose. Silly rabbits!
