Where can I find information on choosing a marketing research firm?

There are market research firms in most every major market.

One way to contact them would be to Google the words "market research firms" followed by the name of the city nearest you.

Also keep in mind, however, that some research firms have areas of expertise. So you might want to be more specific in your search. For example... "Health Services Market Research Portland Oregon."

I would advise you to investigate several. Find out the scope of services they offer and get an RFP (request for proposal) from each firm. Then you will be able to compare prices and services. Ask to see samples of their final reports. This will tell you if the information they provide will be of use to you. Also ask for references.

To control costs, there may be aspects of the market research that you can handle in house. For example, you may be able to conduct your own man-on-the-street interviews.

Good luck.
